Hupao Spring is located in the slope of Zhaoyin Mountain. It was constructed in Eastern Jin Period (AC 317-420). As the legend said, Prince Zhaoming,the eldest son of Emperor Liangwu in Southern Dynasty came to Nanshan Zhaoyin Temple for the first time, he failed to find water source in all area. One night, the Prince was reading a book and heard blare outside. He walked outside and saw clearly two tigers to dig earth by moonlight. He dared not to walk forward. When he looked again, the tigers were disappeared. He only saw three feet deep hole dug by the front feet of the tigers. A jet of clean water came out. The Prince was exultant and tasted the water. The water is cold and crystal-clear, fresh. In pleasantly surprised, he quickly sent people to make a well at the spring. The pool was built by bricks or stones, named as "Hupao Spring". The spring bottom is three meters deep from the water surface. The water is clean and sweat, no odor, with many kinds of micro mineral substance. It is really a high quality drinking-water source, and has great benefit if people drink it for a long time. |
