Helin Langyuan Rhododendron

Nanshan Helin Temple has been famous for its flowers since ancient times, especially for the azaleas. According to legend, during the Zhenyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, a monk from the barbarian tribe was on the rooftop, using bowls to hold rhododendron roots and bringing them to Helin for cultivation and planting. After this flower survives, it blooms in late spring every year. During the flowering season, two beautiful women wearing red clothes can often be seen appearing and disappearing among the flowers, commonly known as the Flower God. At that time, there was a deity named Yin Tianxiang who was good friends with Zhou Bao, the military governor of western Zhejiang during the Tang Dynasty, and often gathered at Jingkou (the ancient city of Zhenjiang). Zhou Bao knew that Yin Tianxiang had immortal skills, so he asked him, "The azalea in Helin Temple is a fairy seed, and the world is extraordinary. I heard that immortals can make flowers bloom outside of the flowering season. Now that the Double Ninth Festival is coming, can you make this flower bloom?" Yin Tianxiang readily agreed, "Yes, yes." So Zhou Bao invited Yin Tianxiang to stay at Helin Temple two days before the Double Ninth Festival. At night, in his dream, Zhou Bao suddenly heard a woman talking and telling him, "I have arranged this flower for God, and now it will bloom for the Tao. However, this flower will soon return to Langyuan!" The next morning, when he got up and saw it, he indeed saw flowers blooming on the branches and stamens. Start to break through. On the day of Double Ninth, azaleas are in full bloom, creating a scene full of spring. Zhou Bao therefore greatly respected Yin Tianxiang and held several days of banquets to celebrate. The rebellion of Later Xue Lang and Liu Hao brought disaster to Helin Temple. A large fire burned the inside and outside of the temple completely, causing the azaleas to "return to Langyuan". The goddess of flower protection also flew into the sky without a trace.
